An Architectural Gem

The reception will be held in a historical Mexican colonial style home. Created by two of the city’s most distinctive architectural designers, Rodolfo Ayala and José Trinidad Muñoz Rivera, this gorgeous property was graciously offered as the venue by her great uncle, and fine artist, Maestro José Muñoz Tapia. Son and grandson of the late architects, he currently owns and resides in this magnificent picturesque home.

Signature Marks

With a white and blue exterior, this house contains all the hallmarks of the Mexican colonial style, such as solid brick-and-cement walls, heavy wooden beams spanning the ceilings, arches, columns, terra-cotta, glazed tiles, hand-carved conch-shell niches, moldings, and stone sculptures.

If these walls could talk

Mexico's 51st president, Lazaro Cardenas, internationally acclaimed Mexican photographer Lola Alvarez Bravo, and abstract and surrealist painter Rufino Tamayo are a few of the notable guests who were frequent visitors to this house. Lupita Tapia de Muñoz was known to host many elaborate events for the numerous connections she made and maintained during her lifetime. With elaborately designed stone garden displays and a luscious garden, this house was the perfect venue for  hosting over-the-top parties for the social elite.

Family Memories

Growing up, Natalia would spend many summer's playing in the garden of this magnificent home. Her great uncle, José Trinidad Muñoz, would teach her rhymes and share wonderful fairytales with her. Her great aunt, Lupita Tapia de Muñoz, loved teaching Natalia new games and was like a grandmother to her. This house holds a lot of beautiful memories, and now Taliz will get to add even more to its history.
